This program gives the students an overview of the responsibility of an early childhood assistant and opportunities to perform those responsibilities with two hands-on practicums.

This ECA program presents foundational skills needed for those seeking to move into an Early Childhood Educator program.

Graduates have an opportunity to do only 1 year with Canadore College to become an ECE! Ask your Admissions Advisor for details.

Knowledge & Skills Gained

Our ECA program is designed with an aim to train students and provide required skills and knowledge for employment as Early Childhood Assistants in Childcare Centers, Day Care Centres, or as Child Support at home.

The program provides students with two practicums with on-the-job training at designated Child Care Centers, one with infants/toddlers, and one with pre-school age children.

This hands-on training equips students with practical knowledge and helps them earn employment in their field of their study.

This program also assists those who are aiming to start their own Childcare Center or in-home Business with a suitable ECE organization.

ECA Bridges to ECE

Effective October 2022, students who earn an Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) Diploma from CIMT College have the opportunity to receive advanced standing for an Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma from Canadore College.
