The Education & Childcare T Level is a blend of technical knowledge and work placement to provide the skills and experience you need to work in the Early Years workforce.
The two-year qualification brings classroom and work placement together, on a course designed with employers, giving you a licence to practice as an Early Years practitioner.
You will explore child development, childhood theories and learn how to support children’s development and learning in early years settings. There is an industry placement requirement that compliments the course content and enables you to be prepared for successful completion of the T Level and progression opportunities.
The objectives of this qualification are to equip students with:
the core knowledge and core skills relevant to Education and Early Years
up to date occupational knowledge and skills that have continued currency amongst employers and others
the necessary English, mathematics and digital skills
threshold competence that meets employer expectations and is as close to full occupational competence as possible
opportunities to manage and improve their own performance.
During the study programme you will explore at great depth a variety of topics, concepts and complex theory relating to early childhood development, learning and education to prepare you for further study or excellence as an Early Years Practitioner.
Examples of topics, concepts and theory explored:
Support and promote children’s play, development and early education
Develop relationships with children to facilitate their development
Plan, provide and review care, play and educational opportunities to enable children to progress
Safeguard and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of children
Work in partnership with colleagues, parents, carers and other professionals to support children’s development
During the study programme you will attend industry placement up to two days a week with further block placements throughout the year. Industry placements are intended to provide you with further opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for skilled employment in industry.
As part of your study programme, you will take part in enrichment opportunities, including a variety of trips, to support the development of knowledge, skills and behaviour to prepare you for progression to Higher Education or industry roles.
