Canididates will be required to attend college on a weekly basis and are taught the theory behind a range or topics, such as Safeguarding, Play, Equality and Diversity etc. We use an e-portfolio system called One File, which can be accessed on any suitable electronic device using your personal secure login.
Assignments are set to ensure you have the in-depth knowledge and understanding of the subjects taught, linking your own practical experience to knowledge throughout the course. You will also be assessed in the workplace and be requried to submit a range of additional workplace evidence.
Course Assessment
An apprentice must pass an end point assessment with an independent end point assessment organisation before they can be counted as a fully qualified child care practitioner.
The end point assessment (EPA) for the Level 3 Childcare apprenticeship standard includes a knowledge test and an interview based on a portfolio of evidence.
Before the EPA can take place the apprentice must successfully go through the Gateway process, this process requires the apprentice to have completed the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Diploma, Maths and English qualficaitons.
The employer, learner and provider are requried to sign a declaration that confirms the apprentice is ready for the EPA. The EPA process ensures the apprentice has the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviours to be an effective and highly trnained early years practitioner.

Protecting our planet for future generations is everyone's responsibility. At the College, we encourage all students, staff and our communities, to get involved in positive action towards climate change.
Whenever possible, we encourage the use of sustainable transport options, with initiatives such as the Cycle to Work Scheme. We hold an annual Sustainability Week, to focus on the key issues. Other Green initiatives cover a wide range of areas, all of which are managed in accordance with our Sustainability Policy.
Small changes can have a large impact. Through a constant focus on reducing energy consumption, we've achieved a decrease equivalent of over 33 tonnes of CO2, over the last few years. But this is just the start. We will:
