Our course is designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of current economic thinking and equip you with the technical tools necessary to create and analyse microeconomic and macroeconomic models. You will also gain a comprehensive understanding of econometric techniques.

Course Content:

  • The course is made up of 120 credits of core and optional taught modules, plus a 60-credit dissertation on a subject of your choice.
  • Semester one
  • You will take modules in microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory, econometric theory and economic data analysis.
  • Semester two
  • You will choose two further required modules, which can be in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics, and choose two optional modules from a wide choice. You will also start work on your dissertation by taking a module in economic research methodology.
  • Dissertation
  • After completing your semester two modules, you will undertake a 15,000-word dissertation, with one-to-one support from an expert academic supervisor. This will demonstrate familiarity with a particular area of economic theory or policy, or the ability to apply a specific analytical technique.
