About UCS
The University of Portsmouth and Sparsholt College created ‘University Centre Sparsholt’ in December 2016 as the new name for the College’s Higher Education programmes, which are validated by the University of Portsmouth.
Sparsholt College has been offering Higher Education since the late 1970s and has worked with the University of Portsmouth, its validating university, since the early 1980s. Becoming a University Centre allowed the College to convey more clearly the quality and standards associated with these courses and differentiates them as university level programmes which was further consolidated by its achievement of a TEF Gold award in June 2018. University Centre Sparsholt has continued to flourish offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in Agriculture, Animal Science and Zoo Biology, Equestrian Science and Performance Management, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Studies, Veterinary Nursing Science and Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. In 2022, UCS has introduced its first Higher Apprenticeship Standard, Countryside Ranger.
