Course Details

Course Overview

This training program is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to investigate electrical incidents in the workplace. These incidents may range from near misses to interruptions to electrical supply to fatal incidents.

You will gain an understanding of the potential impact of electric shock on the human body and your legal requirements in relation to electrical incidents.

You will be introduced to the processes required to conduct an internal investigation as well as how to work with external investigators, including police.

This course is applicable to experienced operators, technicians, supervisors, and those in similar roles who undertake internal investigations of minor incidents and / or who assist in external investigations of more major incidents to determine likely cause of incident, record evidence and analyse results to identify improvements to procedures / processes.

 

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • investigate and report on electrical incidents and causes;

 

Assessments
Formal assessment for this unit consists of:

  • Written Assessment: You will complete the written assessment in sections.

  • Practical Assessments: You will complete several practical tasks during the training, including conducting a witness interview, determining contributory causes to an incident and making recommendations to prevent an incident occurring. The final practical assessment task is to conduct an incident investigation and write an investigation report.

 

Entry Requirements

Participants are typically required to hold a UEE30811 – Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (Electrical Licence or equivalent) to be eligible to receive a full Statement of Attainment for all units delivered.
