Course Details

This course is for qualified persons (e.g. electricians, technicians, maintenance), as well as supervisors, managers, foremen and safety personnel, to understand the various safe electrical work practices associated with performing energized electrical-work.

The goal of this course is to help organizations understand, implement and maintain a proper “Safe Electrical Work Practices” program, and will help develop an understanding of safety standards under OSHA and NFPA 70E, and will include a discussion of standard updates under NFPA 70E – 2024.

  • Nature and hazards of electrical energy
  • Understanding “shock” hazards
  • Understanding “arc-flash” hazards
  • Safe electrical working conditions (i.e. Lock-out/Tag-out)
  • Establishing work clearances
  • Establishing approach boundaries
  • Selection and use of electrical personal protective equipment
  • Working around overhead power-lines
  • Risk assessment, pre-planning and energized work permits
  • Elements of a written “Safe Electrical Work Practices” Program
