This program teaches students to become EKG/Cardiovascular technicians who can work in a variety of healthcare facilities including hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and physicians’ offices. Students will be taught how to perform a 12-lead EKG, properly maintain diagnostic equipment, recognize normal and abnormal sinus rhythms and monitor patients for cardiovascular disorders.
An overview of anatomy and physiology, with emphasis on cardiac and vascular systems is taught along with medical terminology, basic patient care techniques, medical instrumentation, cardiac monitoring and testing, and cardiac wellness and rehabilitation. A clinical experience is offered along with classroom simulation of various technical procedures.

Student will label the major internal and external structures of the heart; describe the major functions of the cardiovascular system. Identify the five types of blood vessels, label the electrical conduction of the heart and obtain a standard EKG rhythm strip.
EKG Enhancement Course is a 30-hour course for Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), and Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA). The course is designed to improve and teach the students the proper methods of conducting EKG exams and interpretation.
It is designed to provide physicians and healthcare professionals with training in recognizing and managing cardiovascular emergencies, including arrhythmias and cardiac arrest, along with EKG interpretation.
