Elementary First Aid (EFA)

This course will give you basic knowledge and skills. In this course, one will learn the first aid for life-saving and the ordinary first aid solutions in all the emergencies. The course has been designed to give skills and knowledge to seafarers so that they can take action in case of medical emergencies at the sea.

Elementary First Aid Course Objectives

• To understand the lifesaving principles and techniques theoretically

• To get knowledge of the different kinds of bandages and dressings

• To get the knowledge of hypothermia and its treatment

• To practice the actions that one should take practically in any kind of medical emergency.

• To understand the symptoms of medical conditions such as electric shock or bleeding.

• To learn how to transport a person with an injury of the spine or pelvis with the right procedure.

• To understand the theory of the various medical conditions that can arise such as fractures, burns, and bleeding.

The main purpose of the elementary first aid course is to learn the actions that have to be taken by a person at the time of the accident or at any other medical emergency. Here is a list of things which you will learn in this course.

Elementary First Aid Course Includes

• You will learn what action to implement at the time of an accident or medical emergency to save lives.

• Drowning and recovery position

• You will get the knowledge of hypothermia and its treatment.

• It also includes knowledge regarding fractures of bones, spine injuries, head injuries, the need for oxygen for humans, electric burns, treatment of bleeding, and treatment of electric shocks and burns.

• You will learn to handle major medical conditions such as heart attack, choking, and asthma.

• You will learn to take action on discovering a casualty.

• The transport of the casualty on a boarding ship.
