Course Details

Before operating an elevated work platform (EWP) to a height of 11 metres, workers must be competent in its use. To gain competency you need to have a good understanding of the legislative requirements and safe operation of equipment.

This course is designed for people requiring the theory related to operating elevated work platforms. Alternatively, employers can use this course with their own practical training on-the-job to cover Work Health and Safety obligations.

The course will cover a range of topics, including:

  • Terminology
  • Types of EWPs
  • Site Hazards
  • Pre-Operational Checking
  • Licence Requirements
  • Distance from Power Lines

Upon completion of our course material, participants will be issued a Statement of Completion. Operators must still complete practical training on each different type of EWP that they are required to use. Once practical training has been completed, operators can use EWPs up to 11 metres without the need for a licence.

The Elevated Platform Awareness course is not accredited; however, it does provide theory and underpinning knowledge for using EWPs safely and confidently.
