In the event of a fire breaking out or an emergency occurring, employees who have been properly trained should be more confident in their ability to deal with the situation.
They are more likely to remain calm and follow the emergency procedures you have established, with their response more proficient as a result.
They will also be better placed to make an assessment of the risk posed and the available means of evacuation. Evacuation drills (fire drills) as required by local regulations should also be conducted at least once a year.
If there is a fire in the building would employees know what to do? Are they familiar with the system that would alert them to evacuate or lockdown? Do they know who is in charge during an emergency? Are employees familiar with their responsibilities for building and information security? Can they carry out their assigned responsibilities during an emergency or business disruption?
