The experienced staff at DLC Training in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, have been providing high quality, certified safety training courses for over 25 years.
Our company was started by a group of instructors who wanted to do something different: focus on smaller, more responsive classes, and provide important, but less popular and underserved courses.
As well, one of our key goals was to provide a training environment for students to learn at their own pace.Things have evolved over time. We have taught courses that are near and dear to the hearts of our instructors, and have allowed instructors to develop and perfect their courses and teaching skills.
Along the way we tried not to reinvent the wheel. We’ve become certified Canadian Red Cross training partners and work with the Canadian Safety Council to train our defensive driving, babysitting and home alone courses.
We maintain high standards by having actual teachers help do the training. Our director of training has 2 Masters of Education degrees.Early on we realized that there was a need for people to be able to acquire their certifications or licensing in many fields.
This led us to becoming a partner with Prometric, a world leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment solutions. We have thus created a computer lab to allow for a secure proctored environment. We went one step further and started another lab for others.
We have made partnerships with Biztrainer to bring their 400+ online training courses to our collection. We’ve brought some of our more popular workshops online, like time management and anger management.
We’re currently working to bring all the workshops we’ve done all over Nova Scotia online, using Zoom and online training at the students’ own pace.
One of our newest courses, Learn to Drive, is starting soon, following government accreditation of DLC as a licensed driving school, utilizing the national standard for driver’s education in Canada.
Emergency First Aid and CPR is an eight hour in-class course, or offered in a blended learning format which is up to three hours of online training plus five hours in-class with an instructor.
In this one-day course, students will learn to recognize and provide interventions for life-threatening emergencies until medical aid arrives. You will have the opportunity to learn how to provide First Aid and CPR with AED to Babies, Children, and Adults.
We take pride in offering a comprehensive selection of courses that cover a broad range of critical subjects, including basic first aid training, basic life support (BLS), blended standard first aid, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and more.
This is a Blended Learning Training Course. The self-paced, online session must be completed prior to the in-class session, and the certificate of completion for the online session must be brought to the in-class skills session.
We now deliver SFA C/CPR/AED Training here at the Union Hall. 2 day standard & 1 day recertification courses will be held monthly.
