The course begins at 8:30am on all days unless otherwise noted. Participants should arrive 5 to 10 minutes early. This class is a 40-hour course for students whose current EMR status has not expired.
This comprehensive refresher course is done typically in 5 days of in-class work. Students will review and demonstrate their knowledge and skills required to provide patient assessments, interventions, and ongoing care including transportation to a health care facility.
This course follows the Occupational Competency Profiles as defined by the College of Paramedics and Paramedic Association of Canada.
Skills taught include patient assessment, oxygen delivery and airway management, vehicle extrication, and pharmacology just to list a few. Once successfully completing the course they are valid for another 3 years.
NOTE: Students must have a valid Standard First Aid CPR C and AED and EMR certification prior to attending this course.
