Welcome to the Los Angeles Valley College Emergency Medical Technician Program. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program prepares you to better deliver specific medical services within your community. This highly successful program utilizes a combination of classroom and hands-on training to prepare you with needed EMT skills and knowledge. All courses are administered utilizing state-of-the-art professional education, training and curriculum in preparation for the National Registry certification examination. People in this profession become first responders at medical emergencies, traffic accidents, natural disasters, crime scenes and other urgent situations that require rapid emergency medical assistance and transport.

The Emergency Medical Technician course (EMT) at LAVC provides you with a course completion certificate and prepares you to take the National Registry EMT certification examination. Successful passing of the exam is a requirement for becoming a paramedic. Be sure to check with the local EMS agency in your county to see if there are additional local requirements.
