Emergency Warden Training

This training course will provide employees with the knowledge and skill to act as Emergency Wardens in the workplace. Emergency Wardens are also referred to as Fire Wardens, Building Wardens or Evacuation Coordination Instructors. This course meets the employer obligations under the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 for Wardens, Area Wardens and Chief Wardens.

The course content covers emergency preparedness, emergency identification, assessment of risk, understanding of human behaviour during an emergency situation and effectively planning for all types of emergencies within an organisation.

The course complies with the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 and AS3745-2010 Planning for Emergencies in Facilities. The course is for those participants who have been delegated to perform the role of Emergency Warden, Area Warden, Floor Warden, Deputy Chief Warden or Chief Warden.

What Do I Get?

Your organisation will receive a customised training solution where your employees and contractors will be trained to your own emergency plans and procedures. Upon booking a course, our team member will ask for the following documents:

  • Emergency Plan - this document should outline who the wardens are for your organisation, and how emergency evacuation has been planned.

  • Fire and Evacuation Procedures - these are often included in the plan. If they are not, we will require a copy.

  • Evacuation Diagram or Sign - again, this may be in your plan. If not, you need to supply a copy, or take a photo of the one on the wall.

  • A photo of the outside of your building.

Once you have supplied your plans and diagrams, your customised course will include the following:

  • Your logo on the presentation

  • Your evacuation diagram will be shown and explained in the course

  • A picture of your building will be shown, and if you have a fire control panel, this will also be shown and explained

  • Any procedures you have will be distributed and discussed as part of the course

  • A Fire and Evacuation Instruction Record logbook

If you would like our trainer to conduct an evacuation drill as part of the course, this will cost extra, and you will need to allocate a further hour to the end of the course. A record of the evacuation drill will be documented and provided to you for your files.
