To equip participants to make an analysis of their key motivators, interests, skills & achievements in preparation for making Career Management decisions.
Course Objectives
During the session, you will
Review the pre-course initial assessment and VAKS document making an assessment of your learning styles.
Build up your self-confidence in relation to yourself, your career-management and job preparation.
Begin drafting a number of key transferable skills and achievements in order to write/update a CV and for drafting Application Forms.
Begin to think and express positively your skills and achievements
Session Two - Self-presentation: CVs & Application Forms
To equip participants with the essential elements for drafting CVs and application forms when responding to job application forms or job opportunities.
CVs
Discuss the essential elements and main components necessary for compiling a good CV.
Identify the pro’s and con’s for the different types of CV: Chronological, Functional & Marketing CVs.
Examine participants’ CVs, and consider how to improve existing CVs and agree on a good CV template to follow for the future.
Application Forms
Discuss the most effective ways of completing application forms and responding to the Job Description and Person Specification/Criteria by providing examples of skills, knowledge and experience.
Discuss the importance of creating an impact with the application through presentation, layout and style.
