Each semester, the EMS Professions program at LSC-Kingwood offers multiple EMT-Basic courses with variety of schedules to better meet the needs of our community. The course is designed for anyone interested in working in public safety, including fire, police and ambulance operations. At LSC-Kingwood, EMT-Basic training consists of two courses: EMSP 1501 (classroom) and EMS)1160 (clinical).

The program covers anatomy and physiology, initial patient survey and triage, airway management, oxygen therapy, and treatment of bleeding, shock, cardiac arrest, automated external defibrillation, fractures, spinal injuries and other medical emergencies. EMT-Basic training consists of coursework and hands-on experience designed to prepare students to administer care in emergency situations.

EMT students will be challenged daily in class as they learn the crucial skills needed to perform in emergency medicine. The EMT program will take students with minimal to zero medical knowledge and in 20 weeks have them trained and prepared to assist people in their most critical time of need.
Oklahoma State University Fire Service Training offers a significant number of courses that will improve the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) abilities of emergency responders. Responders can begin with the fundamental base with classes such as the American Heart Association (AHA) CPR classes.
This course is designed to give students basic knowledge of how to treat patients. Topics covered include patient assessment, pre-hospital treatment of medical and trauma emergencies, and an introduction to pre-hospital emergency medicine.
The Emergency Medical Technician provides basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. The EMT Certificate prepares students for careers in Emergency Medical Services in the private and public service
