Course Details

Course Objective

This course achieves the competency required to work in a confined space (enclosed or partially enclosed) for the purpose of carrying out work or inspections.

The units in this course cover persons required to enter confined space under an issued permit for any purpose including maintenance, cleaning, inspection or other reasons, who will be required to wear breathing apparatus as part of their normal work, and who need the skills and knowledge to test the working atmosphere using electronic test apparatus to find out if it is safe for the work to take place.

 

Course Outcome

On successful completion of this course learners will be issued

Statement of Attainment

Competency Card issued by ATC

 

Course Content

Understand the permit system • Work in accordance with permits

Prepare and complete required documentation

Assess Confined Space for entry

Prepare for entering the confined space

Use safety equipment and PPE

Enter, work and exit a confined space

Recognise and assess conditions that require testing

 

ake readings, interpret and communicate relevant data

Conduct pre donning checks and tests on breathing apparatus

Correct fitting of Breathing Apparatus

Operate Breathing Apparatus

Clean up

 

Learner Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

  • Learners must be 16 years of age to undertake this course

  • Learners must hold a White Card (if under 18 years of age)

  • Must have the ability to use a calculator to perform basic math and equations

Note: Learners must be able to demonstrate successful completion of MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an issued permit prior to undertaking the assessment for MSMPER205 Enter confined space.
