Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to enter and work in confined spaces in the resources and infrastructure industries.
It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.
Who is this course for?
The target group will be construction workers requiring training in safely working in confined space at worksites within:
Civil construction
Mining
Drilling
Extractive industries
Tank/vessel inspections
People who supervise but do not necessarily enter confined spaces also need to be aware of the risks and equipment checks that need to be in place to adequately protect people under their control.
Are there any prerequisites?
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements to enter the RIIWHS202E Enter and Work in Confined Spaces. However, it is preferred that students:
Are 18 years or older
Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)
Students are required to:
Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
Provide a valid ID with his/her picture and signature
