Course Details

Description This program provides learners with a review of the OH&S and legislative requirements and procedures to ensure the health and safety of persons required to work in confined spaces, combined with practical skill relating to safe entry, work and standby duties associated with confined space entry work.

 

Course Content Theory

  • Legislation, terminology and definitions
  • Protective equipment (including breathing apparatus)
  • Atmospheric hazards, monitoring & testing
  • Hazard identification, risk assessment and implementation of control measures
  • Safe entry, access and vertical mobility
  • Emergency response and considerations for rescue and recovery
  • Development / review of work permits / CSE documentation Practical Participate in
  • Review of Job work packs / CSE documentation & entry hazards
  • Using permits / work packs to complete activities
  • At least two CSE activities (horizontal and vertical entries)

 

Prerequisites

MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an issued permit is a prerequisite of this unit (delivered concurrently). Learners should ensure they do not suffer from a medical condition which could be aggravated by physical or psychological stress and must be over 18 years of age.

 

Assessment

Learners must be able to identify a confined space, identify hazards and risks and detail safe entry and work requirements. Assessment will be achieved through a combination of theoretical assessments and multiple practical
