Course Details

CICT’s Equipotential Bonding (EB) training course is a program which includes theory and practical components. The course adheres to Canadian Standards Association, Occupational Health & Safety and Manufacture Specifications for the equipment used in the training. This training is applicable throughout Canada.

The course is offered mobile at a client’s site or at our training facility. This course will train the user to recognize the hazards associated with an equipotential bonding zone and to safely use this equipment to perform duties in multiple workplace environments.

The course is designed for anyone who may be required to work in an environment where there is a risk of electrical shock due to being close to or locating equipment, infrastructure or utilities.  This can apply to multiple situations including the operation of hydro vac vehicles and equipment.

 

Training completion & certification:

  • Participants will receive a wallet sized card or ticket certifying that they have successfully completed & met the training requirements

  • CICT will provide proof of training completion to employers when requested

  • Training records are kept on file & participants, employers & sites may contact CICT for proof of training

 

Course content includes the following:

  • Equipment overview

  • Equipment limitations & selection

  • Hazard awareness

  • Proper PPE

  • Pre-use inspection

  • State the difference between bonding and grounding

  • Define the basic electrical terms voltage, current, and resistance

  • Discuss the hazards when exposing cables under an equipotential zone

  • Demonstrate how to properly enter or exit an equipotential zone

  • Choose equipment and methods to maximize worker safety
