Synopsis for the Essential MySQL 8 training course

Make no mistake although MySQL is free to download and is a relatively simple Database to keep running it is a powerful tool for storing and accessing information, experienced Users of Oracle SQL or Microsoft will see similarities with their software, however MySQL stands on its own as a legitimate Database system, which is why Oracle bought it in the end!

This course is four days duration and is run using the MySQL command line, we run other courses with MySQL most notably combined in a five day PHP course, using PHP to generate webpages from the Database, we also have a MariaDB course which if you didn’t already know it, is written by the same guys who created MySQL (don’t tell Oracle but it’s the same as MySQL !!).

The first day of this course concentrates on SQL queries, manipulating a query so that only the records and columns that the Delegate requires are produced, this includes using Functions, where clauses etc.

By the way, we have published the index for this course on this page, take a look at this so see its flow for the whole four days, here we just breakdown some of the highlights.

The second day continues with more advanced SQL query, we discuss topics such as joining tables and using Regular Expressions (REGEX), the third we create and alter tables and other objects in the Database, including discussing and implementing indexing strategy.

The fourth day concentrates on creating programming elements such as Procedures and Functions, so there is a lot to take in during the course.

Throughout the MySQL training course there are a number of exercises for the Delegates to practice what has been discussed and demonstrated, this is also an opportunity for Delegates to relax, grab a cuppa and chill before starting up again.

This course is available as both a public course in various centres in the UK and Ireland, London, Dublin, Edinburgh etc. But like all 140+ of our courses we can come to your site to give the course at your venue, this is particularly cost effective when you have more than one Delegate needing to attend.

All of training courses are listed off the menu, pick the topic and version you require then contact our Office and we'll be pleased to assist you in your enquiry.

All of our public courses start at 9am and finish at 4.30pm, this is the same for our onsite courses, in addition we are flexible so that Delegates can remain after this time to complete exercises or to review points made during the day, onsite courses can have different start times and of course choice of start dates.

Each delegate has an individual machine to work on and our comprehensive manuals are provided for use during the course and form a vital reference following the course.
