We know that safety is not a matter of cutting corners or checking boxes — it’s the foundation for everything that happens on a job site. Before the first hammer hits a nail or the first boot hits the factory floor, employees and employers should be prepared to limit accidents and mitigate risk.
This course will provide participants with the knowledge to identify hazards, define cave-in protection methods, and OSHA regulations.
This course covers the requirements to manage excavation/trenching operations. The course will include an understanding of the OSHA excavation requirements, excavation/trenching hazards, and control measures.
Master practicing excavation and trenching the safe way with this course that focuses on adhering to OSHA standards. On a hands-on field trip, you’ll learn how to use instruments like penetrometers and torvane shears and conduct a soil sedimentation test.
Participants are taught from OSHA’s excavation standard (29 CFR 1926-Subpart P) which requires workers in trenches and excavations to be protected. Can-ins are perhaps the most feared trenching hazard; but other potentially fatal hazards exist, including asphyxiation, toxic fumes, drowning.
Excavation/Trenching Basic Competent Person training is offered by Safety Compliance Management for all skill level. We not only cover safety, emergency response, and regulatory compliance information, but also prepare students to competently assess, manage, and solve real world situations.
