Excavator training courses can only be conducted on client’s premises. The practical component includes completing a Risk Analysis for the operation of the excavator, completing the pre-operational checks in line with site procedures / operator’s manual, demonstrating knowledge of the main operating controls of the excavator, and then operating it.

 

Course Contents

The practical component includes completing a Risk Analysis for the operation of the equipment, completing the pre operational checks in line with site procedures / operator’s manual, demonstrate knowledge of the main operating controls of the equipment, and then operating the equipment to:

  • Plan Work

  • Duty of care of all people in the workplace

  • Hazard identification and control measures

  • ‘Take 5’ Risk Assessment

  • Pre operational checks in line with site procedures / operator’s manual

    • Conduct routine checks

    • Check controls and equipment

    • Operate as per manufacturer’s instructions (operator’s manual)

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the operating controls of the excavator

  • Shift load – Operate the excavator to:

    • Fill bucket efficiently

    • Dump soil/material on a pile

    • Dig trench to specified depth

    • Maintain level base of trench

  • Load a truck or hopper (if applicable)

  • Shut down equipment and secure site
