What Are Lash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semipermanent fibers that are attached to your natural eyelashes in order to make your lash fringe look longer, fuller, and darker. Individual lash extensions are applied to each of your individual natural eyelashes (one extension per natural eyelash) using a semi-permanent glue.

The material varies from studio to studio, but lash extensions can be made of synthetic, mink, faux mink, or silk fibers. Most studios offer a variety of extension lengths, curl patterns, and tints so clients can customize their look.

Types of Lash Extensions

Classic lashes- A method where 1 lash extension is glued to 1 natural lash. This method is also known as 1 to 1 or 1:1. Classic lashes are perfect for clients who already have a lot of lashes, but want to add more length. Classic lashes look more natural.

Volume (3D) lashes- Multiple lashes are applied to one single natural eyelash individually isolating one natural eyelash at a time using very thin lashes . If two eyelash extensions are applied to one natural lash it’s described as 2D, if three eyelash extensions are applied to one natural eyelash then it’s described as 3D etc.

Outline

We cover theory including diagrams and illustrations, a live demonstrationand students will be expected to perform on live models. We provide a demonstration model portal to students in order to source practice models.In class, practical tips and pointers are given on running a lash business, attracting and maintaining your customer base.
