About Us
In 1993, our company started out as the North Central Training Center for Environmental Resources Management Group [ERM] in Alsip, Illinois. ERM, at that time, had 109 locations worldwide but our Alsip, IL location was the only location providing the services that we offer.
In December 2001, when ERM decided to close its training division, our employees joined together to found our own business in Hammond, Indiana doing what we do best – offering our customers the best value in training and contractual stand-by rescue services.
Safety Training Services (STS) was born.
After nearly 15 years of great success by continually satisfying our clients and delivering an effective safety message, we embraced an opportunity of another strategic move into our new training center. In May 2015, STS moved to our current location in Highland, Indiana.
Our People
Much of the Safety Training Services staff are retired or practicing firefighters, paramedics, HAZMAT specialists and active rescue team members with first-hand knowledge of the field.
Our Mission
We understand that your company is firmly dedicated to providing a safe work environment for your staff. As a company, our mission is keep our customers from being caught unprepared at OSHA and EPA inspections, to protect our customers from ruinous fines and lawsuits, and to ensure that everyone makes it home in one piece at the end of the day.
In the OSHA ergonomics training course, students will learn about the importance and application of ergonomics in the workplace. We will cover the proper use of tools, equipment, and machine controls; proper lifting techniques, and proper ways to move between tasks.
The 8-Hour Site Safety Manager Refresher training course is for those who need to renew their Site Safety Manager (SSM) or Site Safety Coordinator (SSC) certification.
Vehicle Manufacturers are constantly changing the look, shape, and safety systems within vehicles. New battery locations, new restraint systems, and hybrid cars, all have hidden dangers to firefighters. This class is designed to meet the NFPA 1670 Vehicle and Machinery Rescue Operations.
