About This Event:

This course provides an overview of state-of-the-art technology for fall protection and current OSHA requirements. At the conclusion of the course, the participant will be able to identify fall protection requirements mandated by OSHA standards.

 

Recommended for:

Participants should note that while this course has a primary emphasis on the construction industry, there is application for the fall protection systems in a general industry environment.

 

Participants will:

  • Identify employer’s responsibility of providing fall protection and training requirements
  • Identify conventional & nonconventional methods of fall protection; lifelines in a fall arrest system
  • Identify fall arrest requirements and assess compliance with subparts of 29 CFR 1926 relating to fall protection
  • Evaluate components of Fall Protection Plans
  • Assess compliance of residential construction fall protection and non-residential roof construction with OSHA and consensus standards

 

Topics include:

  • Causes of falls and principles of fall protection
  • Conventional methods of fall protection
  • Non-conventional solutions for fall systems
  • Training requirements
  • 1926 requirements relating to fall protection
  • Fall Protection Plans
  • Residential and non-residential construction.

 

Additional Information:

Participants are encouraged to bring questions that are unique to their working environment for discussion in the course.  Participants should be dressed comfortably and wear closed-toe shoes as some demonstrations and activities may be conducted outdoors.
