Training Method:
Classroom training and self-paced learning.
Contact Time:
Part-time, Flexible study option over 32 weeks*
Classroom Training Sessions – 1 day per week
Self-paced Study – 6.5 hours per week
Assessment Tasks – 15 hours per week
Workplace Training – 175 hours minimum requirement
Assessment Method:
Blend of projects, portfolio, written knowledge, research tasks and observation activities.
Students must complete our Certificate in Fashion Design course in order to complete the Diploma of Fashion Design course at FBI.

Advanced Fashion Illustration & Trade Sketch
Students broaden their skills when creating trade sketches and Fashion drawings in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
Advanced Garment Construction
Students master the skills of bias cutting and the intricate garment construction of lingerie, swimwear and corsetry gowns.
Wholesaling
The process of wholesaling is intrinsic to the success of any label. Students learn how to sell, margin and market products to potential buyers.
Advanced Masterclass
Building upon the previous year’s collection, students complement the designs created in first year Masterclass. Students present their range to FBI and industry consultants, with a small business proposal that covers design, construction and marketing of the student’s own label.
Advanced Pattern Making II
Students analyse and identify various draping techniques through manipulation, moulding and shaping to create complex patterns for specific designs. Grading advanced pattern blocks while maintaining the shape, fit and balance of the garment is also covered.
Alterations
Designers create the perfect fit and shape by altering garments to specific sizes and contours. Students learn to modify existing garments to individual needs or change the order of construction to create a different look.
