This course will provide a basis for understanding fashion design as the art of the application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories.
Students will learn the history of fashion design, types of fashion from Haute couture to mass market, fashion design terminology.
This course will cover the world fashion industry including countries that have established an international reputation in fashion like France, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, and Belgium. Students will learn how to transform the raw elements of fashion (fabrics, colors, patterns, styles) using their creative intelligence.

Admission Requirements
• Grade 12 graduate or mature student status (British Columbia 19 years or older)
• Meet minimum English language proficiency requirements.

Utilize time management and task sequencing in the completion of project components
Develop professional presentation with technical drawings, illustrations, color theory, customer profile, concept books and line sheets
Create a work board of apparel designs for a specific segment of the fashion clothing market
Analyze and determine fabrics and estimate wholesale and retail costs for collection garments

In this course, designed exclusively for beginner knitters, we will use straight needles to tame knitting, one stitch at a time. Notions covered in this lesson include: casting on, knit stitch - garter stitch, purl stitch - stockinette stitch.
