Students will gain knowledge and skills to present effective, stimulating and behavior changing public education presentations to various audiences.
Students will explore the myths and realities of fire, human behavior during fire emergencies, and strategies to effectively reach a variety of audiences.
Methods of delivering fire and life safety education, selecting educational materials, working with the media and evaluating program success will also be covered.
This course meets the State of Georgia and the National certification criteria for Fire and Life Safety Educator Level I.
Welcome to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC), the state’s premier training facility for all state and local public safety-related units of government including police officers, firefighters, 911 operators, coroners, emergency management officers, rescue officers, jail officers and other emergency service personnel.
Established in 1980, GPSTC has been training the public safety community longer than any other institution in Georgia. GPSTC’s training divisions include: the Georgia Police Academy, the Georgia Fire Academy.
The Basic Training Division and the Instructional Services Division, which are the state’s leading providers of certified basic, advanced and specialized training for public safety officials.
GPSTC’s main campus encompasses nearly 1,000 acres and is centrally located just off I-75 in Forsyth, Georgia (Monroe County). The comprehensive training complex includes many state-of-the-art facilities designed to give students both classroom experience and real world skills.
Under the leadership of Director C.G. Wigginton, GPSTC employs the best and brightest. Full-time and adjunct instructors at GPSTC are the foremost authorities in their respective fields with the experience necessary to design and deliver superior training programs to a range of public.
Safety officers—from those just beginning their career, to seasoned professionals seeking specialized and advanced instruction, or those looking to progress into executive, supervisory or management positions.
In addition to GPSTC’s training divisions and administrative offices, the training units of six resident agencies are located within the main academic complex. Those agencies include: Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Department of Community Supervision (DCS), Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA). The Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division, the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council and the Al Burruss Correctional Training Center are also located onsite.
The course teaches the fundamentals of fire alarm technology and offers a hands-on training experience with various manufacturer systems. Course attendees will receive a step-by-step checklist for inspection and testing of fire alarm systems.

The California Fire Prevention Awareness for Construction online safety training from Exceed Safety is an introductory-level safety course designed to provide the basics of fire prevention in accordance with federal and California/OSHA requirements.
Fire Marshal training is offered by DeSoto Fire Training Center. Our program provides intensive physical training aspect to ensure you are well prepared for the firefighting profession. Our goal is to help you succeed in your preparation and future career as a Firefighter.
Employees should receive our basic training session annually. This meets the requirements of OSHA 1910.157 and will provide information and instruction to ensure they understand the proper procedure to follow if faced with a fire emergency.
