Upon successful completion of this training course, the qualifying learner will be able to identify different types of fires, explain and practice fire prevention, operate basic fire fighting equipment and perform basic fire fighting procedures.
Course content:
Identify Different Types Of Fires
We take learners through the introduction, definitions, the three elements required for combustion, the fire tetrahedron, spreading of fire and heat, products of combustion, the common causes of fire, and the classification of fires.
Explain And Practice Fire Prevention
This module deals with housekeeping, the acquisition of fire fighting equipment and machinery, the hindrance of fire control, emergency evacuations, legally competent personnel and fire safety legislation and regulations, including extracts from the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and the Mine Health and Safety Act of 1996.
Operate Basic Fire Fighting Equipment
We discuss the identification of basic fire fighting equipment and operating basic fire fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers, water and hose drills.
Perform Basic Fire Fighting Procedures
Learners are taught how to extinguish fires using different extinguishing methods and precautions to take when extinguishing a fire.

At the conclusion of this course you the Fire Fighter should be able to have sufficient knowledge to assess a situation, remaining as calm as possible, identifying possible dangers and priorities and provide immediate and appropriate action for the situation.
Fire Safety training is offered by Industrial Fire & Hazard Control. Industrial Fire & Hazard Control utilises Virtual Reality and Simulators as an extensive part of our training regime. The simulators and VR arena allow for continuous repetitive training in a classroom.
