Designated Fire Marshals must be more than a colleague with a clipboard and this one day course has been designed by Safe Life to make sure that a Fire Marshal can be a real improvement in fire safety in any workplace.
Course Content
This course will cover the following areas:
Discussion of the role of fire marshal
Liaison with the fire service
Action on discovering a fire, including development of efficient lines of communication
Current, up to date fire safety legislation
The chemistry of fire
The commonest causes of fire
Fire safety precautions
Fire drills and evacuation and record keeping
How to use fire extinguishers and how to identify which one to use on which fire
Training Method
This one-day course is highly interactive, with a lot of hands-on practical work as well as theory. There will be an assessment at the end of the day as well as a requirement for reasonable proficiency in the practical elements.
The training for a fire marshal covers not only managing fire and fire prevention but also managing people possibly in a crisis. The delivery of the course and assessment will include both of these sides of the role.
Certification
Completion of this course will result in a useful Safe Life certificate, accepted by employers.
