Learn the skills required to prevent and control fires in marine environments. The Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting course is a fire safety training course in Perth and Darwin.
It is designed for personnel working on sea vessels who require the Certificate of Safety Training (CoST) issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
This unit is designed to learn the skills required to prevent and control fires and to respond effectively to any fire emergency onboard a vessel.
Course Availability
The fire prevention and firefighting course is hosted in-person at our training facilities in Perth and Darwin.

Endorsement Requirements
To be issued with a Certificate in Personal Survival Techniques PST by AMSA you must meet all the course requirements, lodge a formal application with AMSA using the Seafarer form 419 and pay the application fees.
This is not covered by ERGT course fee. Please refer to the AMSA website for further clarification on how to lodge a formal application.
Medical and Health Standards
A medical certificate is not required for this course; however, a health questionnaire and declaration of fitness will be required at course registration. Please contact ERGT for any concerns regarding completion of practical training and assessment requirements and to discuss options for reasonable adjustments
Additional Requirements
Government issued photo identification is required for course registration. Note: Trainees are required to apply for their STCW certification directly to AMSA through Form 419 which attracts an AMSA prescribed fee. This is not covered by the ERGT course fee.
Structure and Assessment
This fire fighting training course in Darwin and Perth, is delivered through classroom presentations, group discussion and practical components. Delivery will occur through a face-to-face training and incorporate the following approaches:
PowerPoint presentation, group discussion and practical demonstration. Assessment is carried out via direct observations & practical exercises.
