Our training department possesses many of the certifications needed to host our own in-house training for our new hires as well as the continuing education needed to keep our employees up to date on the necessary courses to stay in compliance with our required safety education programs.
Blakely Construction opened its doors in January of 1960 at the Gulf Service Station at the corner of Dotsy and 2nd street in Odessa, Texas. Our first customer was Gulf Oil Corporation.
Our founder, James E. Blakely, is an Ex-Marine Sergeant, retired from Blakely Construction in May of 1991. The company remains privately held by the Blakely family.

In this program, students will learn how to properly and safely react to a fire in the workplace, including extinguisher selection and use, evacuation, and basic fire prevention. We also provide industrial fire brigade training for general employee groups and fire brigades.Â
The Fire Safety Inspector program is based on NFPA 1031 Standard for Professional Qualification for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner. The program covers fire codes and standards, plan review, building construction, fire prevention, and more.
The course is designed satisfy OSHA's fire protection standard at 29 CFR 1910.157 for employees designated by their employer to use portable fire extinguishers in the workplace. Employees learn to select the right fire extinguisher for the job, and use it correctly.
Fire Protection and Prevention training is offered by ABC Florida Gulf Coast. ABC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter strongly believes in creating a true company-wide safety culture. We help our members do this by providing industry applicable safety training.
The program is intended to provide currently employed fire fighters with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to safely and effectively assume the role of a company fire officer.Â
