The Central Piedmont Fire Protection Technology curriculum is designed to provide you with technical and professional knowledge to make decisions regarding fire protection for both public and private sectors.
It also provides a sound foundation for continuous higher learning in fire protection, administration, and management.
What you will learn
Coursework includes classroom and laboratory exercises to introduce you to various aspects of fire protection. You will learn technical and administrative skills such as hydraulics, hazardous materials, arson investigation, fire protection safety, fire suppression management, law, and code.
Additionally, you are required to take a humanities or fine arts elective. Each fire protection technology course has laid out specific learning outcomes (PDF document).
At the completion of the fire protection technology program, you will be able to:
explain the history, development, methods, systems, and regulations as they apply to the fire protection field
discuss the development and maintenance of fire prevention programs, educational programs, and inspection programs
explain the importance of firefighting strategies to the fire service
identify and apply fundamentals of fire and building codes and procedures to conduct an inspection, review fire and building codes, write inspection reports, identify hazards, plan reviews, complete sketches, and other related functions

Includes hands-on training using a propane-fueled Class B live fire simulator. This class provides the student with the necessary types and use of fire extinguishers.
Fire Safety training is offered by District 7 Fire and Rescue for all skill level.Â
The 1-Hour Fire Protection And Prevention training course will describe the different types of fires and how to extinguish them safely to prevent damages and injuries on the work site.
OSHA requires that the employer provide training on how to properly use and deploy the extinguishers? And, where the employer provides extinguishers, the employer must provide awareness training at employee orientation and then annually after that.
We teach Wildland Fire, crosscut and chainsaw classes. We have Oregon DPSST (Department of Public Safety Standards and Training) certified instructors. S-130/190 & L-180 S-212 Wildland Fire Chainsaws.
