Why do I need a Fire Safety Advisor?
A Fire Safety Adviser is required in all high occupancy buildings listed in the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008. If you are not high occupancy then you do not need an appointed FSA. Even if you do not need an FSA keep in mind your paperwork (inc annual occupiers statement etc) will still have to be completed.

 

High occupancy is classified as:

  • 30 or more employees
  • a Class 2 or 3 building that is more than 25m in height
  • a Class 4 building or an at risk premises, as nominated by the Commissioner of Queensland Fire and Emergency Services)

 

A Fire Safety Advisor is qualified to:

  • Identify, prevent and report workplace emergencies
  • Ensure workplace emergency prevention procedures, systems and processes are implemented
  • Manage and monitor workplace emergency, procedures, equipment and other resources
  • Respond to workplace emergencies
  • Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
  • Lead an emergency control organisation
  • Manage an emergency control organisation
  • Confine small workplace emergencies

FSAs can tak care of your Evacuation Plans and Diagrams, Annual Occupiers Statements, Fire Evacuation Drills and Training, Induction Training, and a host of other training and advisory roles.
