Course Details

Part 3 of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, as amended, and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006, requires the responsible person to carry out a fire safety risk assessment, implement appropriate fire precautionary and protection measures and maintain a fire management plan.

Your Fire Safety Risk Assessment should be reviewed following any change in premises, processes or the number of people employed, or if you've had a near miss or an actual fire. It is also good practice to review it at intervals not exceeding 12 months.

Benefits of a Fire Risk Assessment to your business

You can reduce exposure to the threat of fire by protecting both employees and your business. The consequences of not doing so can lead to prosecution, leave a business vulnerable and result in disruption and financial loss.

What the Fire Safety Risk Assessment will contain

An easy to follow format (PAS79:2012) which will address the following areas –

  • General information

  • Fire hazards and their elimination and control

  • Fire protection measures

  • Management of fire safety

  • Action plan

The assessment and subsequent report will provide an assessment of the risks to life from fire and where appropriate make recommendations to ensure compliance with fire safety legislation.

It will also demonstrate that you are fully compliant when the Fire Service carries out a check of your premises.

We are based in Aberdeen and can provide competent Fire Safety Risk Assessors, all experienced ex Fire Service senior managers, across the Grampian area.
