Fire warden training covers a variety of areas including legislation causes of fire, fire prevention, fire evacuation procedures, extinguisher use, safety features, emergency procedures, role and responsibilities, fire assembly and managing people under pressure.

This course is perfectly suited for any existing fire wardens, deputies, safety representatives or individuals holding fire warden responsibilities.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 imposes specific duties on employers, including the need for fire prevention methods, supply of information to employees and appropriate fire safety measures. Staff who are appointed and trained as Fire Wardens are able to help you meet your legal obligations by addressing basic fire issues in the workplace.

Fire Wardens play a critical role in evacuating a building in the event of a fire. You can be confident that a competent person will efficiently escort your staff to a safe location, reducing the risk of injury.
Fire Warden training enables your appointed team member to carry out the necessary checks to make sure fire extinguishers are in good working condition.

 

Syllabus:

  • Unit 1
    • Fire Science
    • The study of all aspects of fire, from fire behaviour to fire investigation.
  • Unit 2
    • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 / Fire (Scotland) Act 2005
    • A pragmatic look at the level of control with in premises, and the reasonable steps organisations make to reduce the risk from fire and make sure people can safely escape if there is a fire.
  • Unit 3
    • Fire safety management
    • How to create a management plan outlines your arrangements for implementing, controlling, monitoring, and reviewing fire safety standards as well as ensuring that the standards are maintained.
  • Unit 4
    • Evacuation methods and plans
    • How to create fire safety and evacuation plans, creating a clear passageway to all escape routes, clearly marked escape routes that are as short and direct as possible.
  • Unit 5
    • Role of fire wardens
    • Examining the roles and responsibilities of the wire warden including checking fire alarms, emergency exits, fire extinguishers, fire doors, emergency lighting, signs ect.
  • Unit 6
    • Fighting a fire
    • Exploring the steps to fighting a fire including sounding the alarm, evacuating the building and call emergency services.
