Our 1/2 day course is ideal for the smaller business where running in-house courses is not practicable. This generic course will cover the role of the fire warden and includes practical use of fire extinguishers against a live fire using our gas simulator.
Why do my staff need practical Fire Extinguisher Training?
Practical Fire extinguisher training is not a legal requirement, it’s all about ensuring that, in the event of an emergency, staff are capable and feel confident to identify when it is SAFE to tackle a fire and then tackle the fire in a SAFE manner. The longer it takes for the fire to be extinguished, the bigger the fire potentially becomes and as it takes hold it becomes more unlikely it will be able to be tackled by a portable extinguisher.
Practical Fire extinguisher training as opposed to classroom based theory training gives employees “hands-on” experience with extinguishers against a live fire. This is generated by a safe and controlled gas fuelled training rig which is set up outdoors. We have two systems for training, a trailer system called FIONA (FIre ON A trailer) and we also have a ground dumped system. Both systems can simulate, bin, electrical and spill fires.
Staff will be more confident and know exactly what to do if faced with a small fire, enabling them to tackle the fire without panicking. Practical training provides your business, employees and building the best possible chance of surviving a fire in the workplace.

Initially established to respond to the growing global threat from terrorism and criminal acts, our core business focused on Security and Explosives. This included Counter Terrorist Search and Improvised Explosive Device Disposal, as well as Threat and Vulnerability Assessments.
We have been instrumental in the development of National Occupational Standards for personnel employed in the area of Search and/or Munition Clearance. Our Managing Director is a member of the Standards Setting Body for Explosives Munitions and Search Occupations (EMSO), and in 2004 we became the first civilian training organisation in the world to be accredited by 3 of the United Kingdom’s Awarding Bodies, for the delivery of Academic/Vocational Qualifications in Munitions Clearance and Search Occupations.
As our client base has grown and whilst remaining true to our original ethos of providing “a Safe and Secure Place for People to Live and Work,” we have expanded our core business to include some of the more mundane, but never-the-less important, day-to-day activities that keep us safe – many of which are required under the growing legislative safety requirements; First Aid, Fire Safety and Health, Safety and Environmental training, consultancy and equipment procurement.
One of our first major undertakings and successes was the design and delivery of a specialist security training course focusing on the detection of improvised explosive devices (IED’s) for a major UK Nuclear energy provider.
This short one day course was accredited by the Awarding bodies and has now been delivered to hundreds of security personnel.
