This objective of this course is to provide candidates with the required skills and knowledge required to work within the command, control and coordination structure of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO).
An ECO's priority is the safety of facility occupants and visitors during an emergency which means ECO members are responsible for pre-emergency, emergency and post emergency actions.
The unit has been developed to cover the facilities as specified in Australian Standard (AS) 3745 and AS4083.
For this unit, as covered by AS3745 and/or AS4083, occupants are people attending a facility on a permanent or temporary basis such as an employee, contractor, student or resident, but not a visitor or patient and a facility is a building, structure or workplace that is, or may be, occupied by people (occupants).
All aspects of the unit must be undertaken in accordance with legislative requirements, organisational policies and procedures and accepted safe practices. It applies to members of an ECO who are floor or area wardens and/or wardens or deputy wardens.
Target Audience
Fire Wardens who might deal with emergency situations such as fire evacuations, bomb threats, gas leaks and adverse weather events.
This course covers the competency required to implement the emergency response specified in the workplace emergency procedures or specified by a person at a higher level in the emergency control organisation, People who undertake this work will be working within the command, control and coordinate structure of the emergency control organisation.
PPE Requirements
Enclosed footwear, long pants and a sleeved shirt are required at Baseline Training courses.
Entry Requirements
Pre-Requisite Unit - There are no formal entry requirements stipulated for this program
Fitness Requirement - Training and assessment involves moderate to high physical activity. Candidates are required to be able to freely walk, bend and twist, perform safe lifting techniques and be familiar with typical workplace risk and safety protocols
Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills - Candidates must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills

Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Participants will gain the required competencies and skills required to implement emergency response specified in the workplace emergency procedures or specified by a person at a higher level in the emergency control organisation.
The assessments for this program have been designed to assess a candidate’s competence in accordance with the relevant endorsed Training Packages, applicable Legislation & Australian Standards and the proprietary requirements of the organisation or workplace. The assessments will consist of both written and practical components.
Classroom based or onsite workplace training
Delivery consists of face to face and practical simulations
