Course Details

A fire watcher is an individual assigned to keep watch on fire hazards in the area where hot work is going on and automatic fire alarming/warning and firefighting systems are not available or cannot be installed.

Fire Watcher training is intended to teach individuals how to recognise and respond to potential fire threats in hot work environments. Workplace fires, no matter how big or small, represent a serious hazard to worker health and safety.

The participants will be well prepared to manage everything from keeping a fire watch to alerting the fire department and even utilising a fire extinguisher if necessary in case of a fire incident. Workplace fires caused by hot work activities are avoidable.

One of the control strategies recommended to prevent workplace fires during and after hot work activities is the of properly trained fire watcher who is capable of not only recognizing the fire but also be competent enough to fight the fire using appropriate fire extinguisher according to the class of fire.
