There are 2 major parts to applying for a Firearms License – a Safety course which we can provide and a genuine reason is required – we suggest joining SSAA. Once you have your Certificate of attainment from the course and proof of SSAA membership plus digital photos then you may apply online for a Firearms Licence.
These are typically taking 5 to 6 months to issue. A case reference ID number will then be generated by WLB once the application is completed and paid for by card. With that Case reference # you may apply for a Permit To Acquire for a firearm and that application will run in conjunction with the licence. Otherwise waiting for the licence then applying will place a 28 day waiting period on any PTA application until WLB can see a firearm on their system against your licence.
We have trainers undertaking training for the Safety Course each Saturday and the cost for the standard A+B safety course is $145 each. They begin at 8:00am and can be finished by 12:30pm sometimes a little later. A certificate will be posted out usually within a fortnight after completion of the course. The course consists mainly of theory with a practical component as well.
A unique student ID number is required for this course. If you don’t already have one just Google same and you can apply for one online. Booking is confirmed with pre - payment. Spaces are limited to 10 each total each Saturday. You may book by phone and pay with a credit card
Should you have a change in circumstances we allow one change of date with at least 24 hours’ notice. A cancellation inside 24 hours will forfeit full payment.

Firearm Safety Courses are conducted frequently at the TMRC clubhouse for Category A and B weapons (category H is available on request). The courses are run on a weekend (typically on a Saturday) and take 4 to 5 hours depending on the number of participants.
This course will cover all of the basics in regards to reloading metallic cartridge ammunition. It will cover cleaning and preparation of your cases, sizing, priming, powder charging, projectile seating, inspection of cases and documenting you’re reloading.
