This is a Non-shooting course that teaches students the basic knowledge and skills to safe handling of a firearm. Students Will Learn: Basic gun safety & fundamentals Loading / Reloading / Unloading of the firearm Aim & accuracy techniques How to clear jams, deal with misfires Stand your ground.

Students Will Learn:
Previous experience with firearms is not required.Students will be given access to SOTC firearms.Estimated length of course: About 8 hours in classroom with 4 hours in the gun range

Certified BSIS instructor for Baton, Firearms, Guard Card as well as CPR, First Aid and AED which is certified by American Heart Association. Mr. Tew is a former Instructor at the National Training Foundation, LLC (NTF) instructing under the late Ralph H. Scully.
You can be assured he will certify students in the proper use and carry of the baton, as well as all security related subjects. He is presently Lead Instructor for the Security Academy Program offered by Grossmont College and San Diego Regional Occupational Program (ROP) and a member of the Advisory Board for Grossmont College’s ROP Program.
Michael has a distinguished fifteen-year career with the Chula Vista Police Department where his exceptional performance as a Peace Officer won him recognition and numerous awards.
Those awards included the Outstanding Officer of the Year Award in 1991; Life Saving Award in 1996 and the Auto Theft and Recovery Award in 1997 for repeated success in solving auto theft crimes. Mike also runs MT Security and Investigations and is a licensed private investigator.

This course is recognized by Massachusetts as an approved Basic Firearms Safety Course (LTC-007) which meets the training requirement for application for a Massachusetts License to Carry (LTC).  Some physical movement is required and participants must be able to kneel, sit, and lie down.
Our classes are taught by certified instructors who have years of experience in firearms training. We offer a comprehensive curriculum that covers firearms safety, proficiency, and legal requirements, and our courses are updated regularly to keep up with any changes in the laws or regulations.
This 3.5 hour course is geared to those who want to get down to basics. This course integrates classroom training, simulator practice and simunition live-fire exercise. Every round comes with a lesson designed to teach you confidence and safety in handling firearms.
