Fire Safety program is based on the Ontario Fire Code and provides the knowledge necessary to prevent fires in the workplace.
Anyone who works in any kind of workplace should know how and when to use a fire extinguisher as well as when to fight and when to flee a fire. All workplaces should have fire extinguishers and employees must know how to use them (as outlined in the National Fire Code).
The Ontario Fire Code requires employers to ensure fire safety prevention measures are in place in every business establishment.
Fire Safety teaches participants about the legislated fire safety responsibilities of the employer and the worker, describes safe work practices related to fire prevention, and provides practical information about emergency response in situations involving fire.
This course meets requirements of Standard 1031 of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Learners will develop the knowledge and skills to conduct thorough fire inspections and determine whether the risk of fire in buildings is minimized, or if, in the event of a fire
