The Firefighter I professional qualification , including the Hazardous Materials, Awareness and Operation professional qualifications of the Firefighter I training , is a prerequisite for this training.
The program allows you to develop basic skills to prevent and fight fires of all kinds, to intervene in the presence of flammable gases and liquids, to assist technical rescue teams, and to carry out automobile extrication operations.
The Sae Estrie was born in 2019 from the merger of the business services of the school service centers of the Région-de-Sherbrooke, Hauts-Cantons, Sommets and the Eastern Townships School Board and since 2022 the Center de Val-des-Cerfs school services.

This basic level course is designed to provide the firefighter with the practical knowledge to function in a fire service as an integral member of a firefighting team while under close supervision.
All courses are based on Occupational Health and Safety Act and CSA standards.
This class is a four-hour program that covers the basic types of fires and the chemistry involved in the extinguishment of those fires. The students will be trained on how to inspect and use a handheld fire extinguisher on a live fire system.
