First Aid and Basic Life Support

About The Course

The First Aid and Basic Life Support course will provide new workers with the essential information and skills to recognise and respond effectively to basic first aid emergencies and refresh the knowledge and skills of existing workers.

Assessment

Learners must demonstrate a willingness to learn and participate in all group activities, case studies and group discussions. To pass this course, learners must be able to demonstrate their ability to safely carry out basic First Aid throughout the practical tasks.

Certification

• All learners will receive a certificate of completion

Learners

• A maximum of 12 learners per trainer are allowed

• Understand the principles of First Aid

• Recognition of a first aid emergency

• Responding effectively to a first aid emergency

• Making the emergency service call

• Reporting and documenting an emergency

• Primary survey, secondary survey and the recovery position

• Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

• Other health conditions; heart attacks, strokes, bleeds, burns, epilepsy, asthma attacks, anaphylaxis, choking, fractures, sprains and strains.
