Syllabus
The workshop is adapted to the needs of the candidates and the risks in your business. Please get in touch to discuss the topics you need to cover.
As standard we will normally recap recovery position and CPR with AED as part of the other scenarios adapted to your needs.
Prerequisites
Candidates need to hold an in date first aid qualification to attend an annual first aid update.
Delivery Style
The First Aid Annual Update workshop will include a variety of interactive sessions including discussions, group break-out activities and practical scenarios with a variety of first aid equipment. All of these elements will recap candidates' knowledge and to build their confidence to provide first aid.
The practical scenarios may include recovery position, resuscitation, the use of Automated External Defibrillators and blood loss with shock. All candidates need to be physically able to take part in these scenarios with many of them taking place on the floor.
Candidates should wear clothing that they feel comfortable with to support their learning while taking part in group discussions and practical sessions with other candidates. Candidates should be aware they will be practising placing one another in the recovery position and practising resuscitation. We, therefore, recommend flat shoes, and trousers and to be cautious of baggy low tops.
Assessment
There is no formal assessment, but we ensure canidates are developing the confidence in first aid through a variety of practical activities.
Certification
Successful candidates will be issued with a certificate of attendance by Dewi Development Ltd.
Candidate Needs
The First Aid Annual Update workshop involves various practical sessions, where candidates must get down to the floor to practise their first aid skills.
This may include practising recovery position and demonstrating effective resuscitation for a minimum amount of time. If you have any concerns about your candidates carrying out these activities, you should get in touch before booking the course.
If candidates have any physical or learning needs, this should be notified as part of the booking. We may be able to provide reasonable adjustments to support candidates learning during the course if we can talk to you and the candidate in advance.
