3rg’s First Aid at Work course covers all aspects of First Aid and meets the requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. The course is suitable for those who must obtain a First Aid At Work certificate and become designated First Aiders. The aim of the course is to equip delegates with the essential knowledge and practical experience to enable them to carry out first aid in the workplace.
Course Content:
The duties of the first aider.
Health and safety administration.
Handling an incident and developing an action plan.
Initial assessment of the casualty.
Recognition and treatment of illness.
Disorders of the breathing and respiratory system.
Wounds and bleeding and the circulatory system.
Dressings and bandages.
Head injuries and the causes of unconsciousness.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Respiration and asphyxia.
Burns and scalds.
Eye injuries and conditions.
Heat and cold on the body.
Muscle, joint and bone injuries.
Spinal injuries.
Electric shock.
Poisoning.
Casualties overcome by gas or fumes.
Transportation of casualties.
Client specific subjects incl: diabetes, epilepsy, etc.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:
Act safely, promptly and effectively during emergencies at work.
Use first aid equipment.
Understand employer duties and legislation.
Be aware of current first aid protocols.
Maintain first aid records.
Assessment
Ongoing assessment will take place throughout the course which will include a final multiple choice question paper. Certification is valid for three years from the date of issue.
Training is usually delivered over 3 days/18 hours to qualify you as the First Aider in the workplace.
Training days do not have to be consecutive but must be a minimum of 4 hours per session.

One of 3rg’s Directors was honoured with the ‘Queen’s Commendation for Bravery’, for stabilising and extracting a critically injured soldier from an active minefield in Bosnia.
3rg’s Chief Medical Instructor & Advisor (Morris Abley) is a highly trained Paramedic & Medical professional, who served within the Armed Forces. His operational background has given him extensive medical knowledge and experience.
Morris has also worked as a Resuscitation Training Officer at a number of Dorset Hospitals and head medical trainer for the RNLI. As well as training roles, Morris has provided operational medical support for Customs and Excise, Dorset Police and the Civil Nuclear Constabulary – both on land and within the maritime environment.

This 3hr course (verifiable CPD) is very popular, the session is suitable for all clinical and non-clinical staff. No previous training is required.
This is a basic first aid course delivered over 3 hours. It covers a similar syllabus to the 1 day/6 hour Emergency First Aid at Work course but without as much details and with only brief practical sessions.
Basic emergency aid and workplace health and safety regulations are covered in a combination of theory and practical sessions.
This course is now also available with 2 days classroom and 1 day online training and is being live streamed using ‘Zoom‘. It’s the same great training achieving high levels of interaction and is still being delivered by a knowledgeable and experienced trainer.
