Canadian Helicopters’ flight school, Topflight, offers training programs to both company pilots and external (third party) clients.
Since its origin in 1954, Topflight Elite Training & Charter Services, formerly known as the Canadian Helicopters School of Advanced Flight Training, has established a world-renowned reputation for the caliber of its training programs. Located in British Columbia, Topflight offers mountain and advanced flight training.
Canadian Helicopters can trace its roots back to 1947 when a predecessor company pioneered the use of a single light helicopter for aerial application of insecticides on fruit tree orchards in British Columbia.
The fledgling company, known as Okanagan Air Services, operated the first commercially licensed helicopter in Canada.
Over the years our operations have grown and flourished, expanding both organically and through a series of acquisitions and reorganizations.The growth of Canadian Helicopters has been multifaceted and purposeful.
We have expanded our charter operations to service new clientele in industries such as oil & gas, mineral exploration, military support, hydro/utilities, forest management, construction, air ambulance, and search & rescue.
We have also broadened our range of services to include advanced flight training and maintenance & repair services.
In 2005 the company became a public company on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The company remained public until 2017 when it was taken private.

In order to apply for the Pilot Certificate endorsed for Advanced Operations, the operator must successfully pass the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System – Advanced Operations exam, and then subsequently complete a flight review.
This license will allow the holder to fly a single-engine aircraft or ultra-light aircraft as captain, during the day in VFR conditions in Canada with passengers.
During this time you will gain extensive experience in all aspects of aircraft handling, emergency procedures, radio procedures, navigation and basic instrument handling.Â
The Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence Program (IATPL) is provided in collaboration with Centennial College and will be run from Toronto Airways facilities (the Canadian Flight Academy building) at the Oshawa Executive Airport.
