The Private Pilot License is a combination of practical flight training and theoretical knowledge. Under the guidance and supervision of our experienced instructors we will take you through the minimum 45 flying hours set by the Civil Aviation Authority and nine theoretical exams before presenting you for a flight test to a UK CAA examiner.
You will be given control to fly on your own (with no instructor in the plane) for a minimum of ten flight hours during your training. Achieving your Private Pilot’s license will not require extra special skills, however the desire and determination to succeed in a new and exciting field is important as it will be challenging at times.
Anyone can undertake the PPL. Our current PPL students come from all backgrounds. You could be a doctor, builder, teacher, bus driver, bank director, security guard, chef, IT specialist or a student, it doesn’t matter what you do. You can start flight training at any age but your training hours will only count towards the license from the age of 14.
You are permitted to take a flight test at the age of 16, however you can only hold the license and carry passengers at the age of 17. There is no age limit to obtain the license, for as long as you can pass your medical you can fly. The training is on a one-to-one basis and is tailored to you and your free time or financial abilities.
You could do it in just few months or you could stretch it for years. Just remember that the bigger the gap between the lessons the longer it will take you to complete the training and the more hours you will complete it in given you can get rusty between lessons.
The following is a list of the items needed in order to complete the Private Pilot Licence:
Flight Training London is a professional and friendly Approved Training Organisation located at London Elstree Aerodrome in North London. Situated well within the M25.
We are easily accessible by road, railway or tube. The aerodrome benefits from being the closest aerodrome to Central and North London.
The LAPL licence is only valid within the United Kingdom, however permission may be sought from the officials of the destination country to fly abroad. This licence can be obtained by anyone who is fit enough to drive a car.
Students will develop a broad knowledge of the aviation industry and develop the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviors to work within a variety of careers within the sector.
The PPL is an internationally recognised licence. Following successful completion of a course of training at Cubair and after application to the CAA you would be issued with a PPL with privileges to fly a single engine piston aeroplane (land) as pilot in command.
This will provide you with access to the freedom of the skies to see things from another perspective. As an Internationally recognised licence, some states such as the USA will allow you to gain their licence, with the completion of the relevant paperwork.
Instructors at the Pilot Centre are experienced, keen and dedicated to passing on their skills and knowledge to everyone who is interested in flying, aiming to make the learning as enjoyable as possible.
